Beyond Basel: The challenge of risk management and capital allocation

Boston, June 21, 2011. Genesis has been retained by a leading European Bank to design and pilot a live training curriculum that will address the consequences and challenges of the Basel Accords. The set of courses will not only address Basel regulation (including the new Basel III rules), but will focus on value creation through the intelligent and thoughtful:

- Identification, measurement, mitigation and reporting of risk,
- Articulation of risk appetite, and
- Allocation of capital.

The seminars will target five-to-ten percent of the bank's global workforce, ranging from senior management through to business unit heads, risk and audit managers and staff, and branch and relationship managers and personnel.

Individual seminars will range from 4 to 16 hours depending upon the nature of the audience. Training materials will incorporate proprietary tools and models developed and used by the Bank.

Joseph Forte, Genesis' President and lead consultant on the project, states "this program is particularly challenging as its scope goes far beyond assuring that bankers are aware of and comply with Basel regulations. It's aim is the promotion of first-class practices in risk and bank capital management."

The training is scheduled to be piloted by the fourth quarter 2011 and delivered over this and the coming year.
